‘Storage Wars’ star dies at 67

Storage Wars legend Darrell ”The Gambler” Sheets has passed away at the age of 67.

Police in Lake Havasu City said officers found Sheets dead at his home on April 22, from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Appeared in 163 episodes

Darrell Sheets was a fan favorite on Storage Wars for many years, he was a great guy with a great sense of humor. For years, he won over fans with his ability to turn small sums into huge profits.

It was no surprise he earned the nickname “The Gambler,” thanks to his fearless approach on the show and his habit of taking big risks at auctions.

He appeared in 163 episodes of the popular series, which debuted in 2010. In later seasons, his appearances became less frequent after he revealed he had suffered a heart attack in 2019.

“Well here we go I wasn’t going to say anything, but you all have been the greatest friends and fans. I’ve been very sick for 3 months and two nights ago I had a mild heart attack, found out I have congestive heart failure and a severe issue going on with my lung,” he wrote at the time.

After stepping away from the storage auction business, the reality star relocated to Arizona, where he went on to run his own antiques store.

The case remains open

It was also in Arizona that he was sadly found dead on April 22.

“On April 22, 2026, at approximately 2:00am, officers with the Lake Havasu City Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 1500 block of Chandler Drive in reference to a reported deceased individual,” the police report states.

Authorities said Sheets appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“Upon arrival, officers located a male subject who suffered from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The male was pronounced deceased on scene and the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit was notified and responded to the scene to assume the investigation,” officials said.

The case remains open as investigations continue.

“The body was ultimately turned over to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office for further investigation. The male subject has been identified as Darrell Sheets, a 67-year-old resident of Lake Havasu City and Darrell’s family has been notified. This incident remains under active investigation, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.”

Darrell Sheets was a father of two — daughter Tiffany Shane Sheets and son Brandon Sheets, who followed in his footsteps and also appeared on Storage Wars. According to his bio, he had hoped to pass down both the “adventure and education” of the storage auction business to his son.

In a statement, the network A&E said: “We are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell ‘The Gambler’ Sheets. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Very sad to hear this! RIP Darrell!
