Robin Williams’ accurate take on Trump has resurfaced, fans say he was ahead of his time

A resurfaced clip of the late Robin Williams making biting jokes about Donald Trump is going viral, and fans can’t help but marvel at just how spot-on the legendary comedian was.

Well before Trump entered politics

Williams, who died by suicide in 2014 at age 63, was celebrated for his razor-sharp improvisation, heartwarming characters, and unmatched energy across stand-up, film, and animation. Over the course of his decades-long career, he earned an Oscar, multiple Golden Globes, several Grammys, and the lasting love of audiences around the world.

Though best known to younger fans as the star of Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting, and Aladdin, Williams never strayed far from his stand-up roots. And now, a bit from a 2012 performance, well before Trump entered politics, has people saying he saw it all coming.

In the clip, Williams riffs on spending Thanksgiving in Atlantic City, calling it “like The Wizard of Oz on acid; junkies, pimps, and pizza, oh my!” And then comes the punchline: “And Donald Trump is the Wizard of Oz. He plays Monopoly with real f**king buildings. This is a scary man.”

At the time, Trump was still best known as a flashy real estate mogul and reality TV host. His name was plastered across casinos like Trump Plaza and the Trump Taj Mahal, most of which eventually closed or were sold off after repeated bankruptcies.

Williams kept going: “He owns all these beauty pageants; Miss America, Miss Universe. Isn’t that a bit like Michael Vick owning a series of pet stores?”

The comparison drew laughs then, and chills now. Vick, an NFL quarterback, had pleaded guilty in 2007 to running a dogfighting ring and served 18 months in prison.

Williams also took aim at Trump’s infamous comments about his daughter, saying, “Even people in Arkansas went, ‘That’s f**king wrong.’” And of course, he couldn’t resist skewering Trump’s signature hair: “I believe the hair is The Donald. The body is a maintenance system for the hair,” he joked, miming the hair crawling away at night: “‘We’re home.’”

The clip has gone viral again on Reddit and X, with commenters calling it “weirdly prophetic” and “kind of profound.”

“He will always be missed, and remembered for generations thanks to the incredible legacy he left behind,” one person wrote.

Another added simply: “One of the funniest, most endearing humans to ever exist.”
