A 35-year-old mother of six has been charged with incest after allegedly having sex with her adopted teen sons. She had pleaded not guilty. Now, chilling text messages between her and the adopted boys have been revealed.

Amber Swain, 35, a mother of six, has been charged with incest after she allegedly slept with two of her adopted teenage sons, aged 17 and 18.

According to public court records read during the hearing, the charge of first-degree incest is alleged to have taken place between November 1, 2025, and January 23, 2026. A separate charge of second-degree incest is said to have occurred later, between January 1, 2026, and April 1, 2026.

The Daily Mail reported that Amber, the director and teacher at Pend Oreille River School, Newport School District’s alternative high school in Pend Oreille, Washington.

The estranged husband reported her to authorities and filed a report with Washington’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families, raising concerns about her relationship with the two teens.

On June 10, she pleaded not guilty. However, chilling text messages could be compelling evidence for the judge.

One of the texts read that one of the mother’s adopted sons said he wanted to sleep in her bed again. He had written that he wanted “it to happen again. Just once.”

Amber Swain then replied, “No, I love you so much. Nothing like that is ever going to happen. You will find someone who you love being with like that and care about.”

According to the Daily Mail, Amber Swain was previously an executive director at Spokane Angels, a nonprofit that supports children in foster care. She adopted one of the boys after meeting him in the classroom in 2017. He was a third grader at the time.

One of the adopted boys claimed he’d had sex with his mom “many times,” with the latest incident at the time happening just two days before police interviewed the 35-year-old.

The boy alleged that his adoptive mom asked, “Should we be doing this?” during the first encounter, to which he replied, “Yes.”

Had “cuddled since he was young.”

The boy had become suspicious that his adoptive mother was sleeping with his siblings after he found her underwear in his room, and he once caught them locked in a room together.

One night, he claimed, he had fallen asleep in Amber’s bed and woke to find her climbing in next to him. According to him, it was “normal,” as they had “cuddled since he was young.”

The boy recalled how he had put his hand under Amber’s clothing and even “changed positions several times.” However, after a couple of minutes, she moved his hand away and said they couldn’t do more.

When asked by officers, he said: “Things got handsy, that’s all I’m going to say.”

Per the local newspaper, The Miner, at Amber Swain’s first court appearance on Wednesday, June 3, District Court Judge Robin McCroskey set her bail at $20,000. The judge also ordered that Swain have no contact with minors.

If released on bail, Swain must follow several conditions, including checking in with her attorney every week, avoiding any new legal violations, and remaining in the state of Washington.

Prohibited from having any in-person contact with the children

Defense attorney Dereck Reid asked the court to make an exception to the no-contact order involving minors so that Swain could communicate with her three youngest children. He requested that any contact be limited to phone calls or Zoom meetings and take place under the supervision of Swain’s parents.

Judge McCroskey agreed to allow the visits under strict conditions. Swain is prohibited from having any in-person contact with the children, and all phone or video calls must be supervised. The judge also ordered that the case must not be discussed during the visits.
