Eating a sandwich is often a great meal option, but using white bread could pose serious health risks, according to one expert.

According to a 2015 National Institutes of Health report, about 47 percent of Americans eat at least one sandwich each day. And who can blame you for it? When it comes to sandwiches, you can have pretty much anything on them, from peanut butter and jelly to mortadella ham or even meatballs.

While sandwiches are a popular and versatile meal, consuming too much white bread may pose health risks, as a recent warning from a human biologist emphasized.

The expert who has spoken is Gary Brecka, a co-founder of the 10X Health System, a renowned human biologist, and an expert in the science of human performance. He is known as “the man behind the Methylation Movement,” which focuses on DNA testing, functional medicine, and epigenetics to optimize human lifespan, health, and physical performance.

When appearing on George Janko’s podcast, The George Janko Show, Brecka spoke about the health disadvantages of white bread,  claiming, “the white the bread, the faster you’re dead.”

Expert issues a serious warning for eating white bread

The expert referred to chemicals used to bleach flour in most commercial bakeries in the U.S, stating that the FDA lists these chemicals as “toxic” and may pose health risks when consumed regularly.

“The only bread I eat is sourdough, because the whiter the bread, the faster you’re dead. So white bread is enriched with bleach flour. Actual bleach,” Gary Brecka said.

“The money is in the food leading to medicine, right? You don’t want to create sudden death. You want to create a long, agonizing, chronic condition that you can manage.”

He continued, “You want to create inflammation so you can manage it with an anti-inflammatory, you want to create a gut dysbiosis so you can manage the mental illness that comes from that.”

Per the National Institute of Health, “Gut dysbiosis, an imbalance in the microbial makeup of your digestive tract, is closely tied to mental health through the bidirectional gut-brain axis.”

It concluded, “This imbalance triggers neuroinflammation and disrupts neurotransmitter production (like serotonin and GABA), potentially worsening conditions such as depression, anxiety, and chronic fatigue.”
