Jane McDonald has shared some big career news and fans are thrilled

Jane McDonald’s supporters could scarcely hide their delight after it emerged that the singer will perform the Gay Icon slot at London’s Mighty Hoopla.

The performer and Loose Women presenter will appear at the festival on May 31 next year. The appearance at Brockwell Park will mark her debut festival performance.

Revealing the announcement, Mighty Hoopla described it as “a long time coming”, posting on Instagram: “We’ve seen your requests. It’s been years of trying… and we finally got her.”

Organisers hinted that  TV personality Jane would be “bringing a big band, big vocals and big surprises to Mighty Hoopla 2026”, promising “a show for the ages”.

The star revealed to supporters that she was already considering what to wear, posting a video on Instagram showing her browsing through a rail of glittering outfits, reports Yorkshire Live.

“What am I going to sing?” she questioned. “How am I going to act? What am I going to WEAR?” Choosing a vibrant rainbow-striped skirt, she beamed: “I think I’ve found it!”

Delighted supporters flooded the comments section following the revelation, with numerous people describing it as “iconic” and declaring: “Oh my God!” “CANNOT WAIT – been lucky enough to see Jane a few times live and she is the most incredible live performer!” one commented.

“This will be amazing!! Cannot wait!” remarked another person, whilst a third added: “This is the best news I have ever heard. Like ever!”

“I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO HAPPY,” confessed one ecstatic fan. Another enthused: “I was in two minds this year…. now it’s a certainty. ALL ABOARD….it’s our b***** Jane!”

“Omfg I am dyinnnnnnng this is the best news ever!” exclaimed another fan. “Oh my gosh, it’s a national holiday,” declared another, while someone else humorously suggested it was “too much”.

Other acts confirmed for Mighty Hoopla 2026 include Lily Allen, Scissor Sisters and Jessie J. JLS, Alexandra Burke, Lucy Spraggan, The Artful Dodger and Heather Small will also be gracing the festival stage.

Mighty Hoopla 2026 will be held at Brockwell Park in London over the weekend of Saturday May 30 and Sunday May 31
