Keanu Reeves’ dramatic new look turns heads

Keanu Reeves has revealed a noticeably different look, prompting immediate reaction online as fans weigh in on the change.

Long before Reeves became one of Hollywood’s most recognizable stars, he appeared in a 1983 Coca-Cola commercial with his dark locks peeking out from under a bicycle helmet, years before his first film appearance in 1986’s Youngblood.

Over the decades, that relaxed, slightly tousled hairstyle became closely associated with the actor’s identity both on and off screen.

“Long hair isn’t easy to pull off. But Keanu Reeves has managed to do it pretty much his whole life, making the case for a messy, straight-cut black hairdo that screams zero effort yet timeless appeal,” writes GQ, highlighting how strongly his look has remained part of his public image.

More than four decades after that early commercial, the familiar style has shifted again, and Reeves’ latest appearance is now making fans pause for a second look.

New do

On April 8, 2026, the Canadian actor appeared on the cover of Parade magazine alongside Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer as the trio discussed their upcoming Apple TV dark comedy, Outcome. While the interview centered on the new project, it was Reeves’ noticeably shorter hair that quickly gave off Speed vibes.

For the shoot, the star of Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure star revealed a short, textured taper haircut, moving away from the shoulder-length style he has worn for years.

The updated look highlights his facial features and a neatly trimmed salt-and-pepper beard.

In the photo, he’s seen wearing a tan canvas jacket with a dark brown corduroy collar layered over a plain white crew-neck T-shirt, paired with worn blue jeans and a thin gold chain with a circular pendant, keeping the styling simple and consistent with his understated public image.

‘Outcome’

The change stands out even more considering how strongly audiences associate Reeves with longer hair, especially through recent years of the John Wick franchise.

His appearance has shifted for roles before, but the latest update arrives as interest builds around Outcome, the film that reunites Reeves with Diaz nearly 30 years after they starred together in the 1996 crime comedy Feeling Minnesota.

In the film, Reeves plays Reef, described by Collider as “the world’s biggest movie star” attempting to rebuild his career after stepping away from the industry while struggling with heroin addiction. The role signals a more complex character arc, and the physical change reflects that direction.

‘Looks so much younger’

According to People, the last time Reeves was seen with longer hair was in February 2024 while filming the 2025 comedy Good Fortune, and at the Saturn Awards the same month, where he appeared with a longer bob and a classic suit. The contrast between those appearances and the Parade cover has helped drive strong reactions across social media.

Fans quickly shared their opinions once the images began circulating online, with many expressing approval of the shorter haircut.

“MUCH better Keanu. You’re a handsome guy. Now we can focus on your features,” one person shared on Instagram.

“Keanu looking sexy af. Love him with shorter hair,” shared a second, while another added, “Looks so much younger with short hair ( handsome ).”

Hair changes have often accompanied Reeves’ film roles, yet the consistency of his longer hairstyle over the years has made any shift particularly noticeable.

And, despite the “disappointing” reviews of Outcome, Collider reports the film was an instant hit on Apple TV, climbing to “the top spot on the U.S. streaming charts.”
