Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, are not on the best of terms. The Duke outed his brother and other family members in his book, and in interviews, he even spoke about his brother’s children. Sadly, William and Kate will ‘hate,’ what Harry said about Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte, an expert claims.
Prince Harry and Prince William have been said to have not spoken to each other for years. Despite being brothers, a reunion is unlikely. When the Duke first became an uncle, upon Prince George’s birth, everything was great.
But according to Harry, writing in Spare, it changed his relationship with his brother and sister-in-law, Kate, forever. Prince Harry met Meghan years later, but the couple decided to leave royal life in 2020.
That itself didn’t sit well with Prince William, the heir to the throne, but Harry wouldn’t let anyone decide his destiny. It became quite evident as he lashed out against several of his Royal Family members in Spare, and even wrote about his niece and nephew, Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte.
They, just like him, Harry argued, were spares and not as ‘important’ as the firstborn, which is set to take the throne in the future. The Duke even vented his fear that their lives would have a negative effect as ‘spares.’
Prince Harry claimed Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte will become ‘spares’ like him
In an interview with The Telegraph, promiting his book, Harry said, “Though William and I have talked about it once or twice, and he has made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility, I still feel a responsibility knowing that out of those three children, at least one will end up like me, the spare and that hurts, that worries me.”
Prince William and the rest of the Royal Family, for that matter, haven’t spoken publicly about his brother and their falling out. Still, one expert claims the future king isn’t happy with Harry speaking about his children.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, former BBC royal correspondent Jenie Bond said, “Harry has a huge chip on his shoulder about being a spare, we all know that now, but he doesn’t have to assume that William and Catherine’s children will feel the same as him.”
“Look at the Duke of Edinburgh and particularly look at the Princess Royal, they didn’t feel like the spares,” she continued. “They’ve gone out there and made it clear they don’t feel second-class in the least and worked hard regardless.
“Charlotte and Louis will be very important people with huge privilege and a huge platform, and so they don’t need to feel spare,” Bond concluded. “Just because Harry felt spare, doesn’t mean that his nephews and nieces will feel spare.”
Prince William says they are a “normal family”
While Prince George is the one before his siblings in the line of succession, that doesn’t mean Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis won’t be as important. At least that is what Prince William and Kate Middleton are trying to implement, as they have chosen a more “modern” way of raising their children.
A source told the Mirror people would be surprised “to see how ordinarey things are” at Prince William and Kate’s home.
“The children help with laying the table, clearing their plates when they’ve finished eating and helping with tidying up. There’s no preferential treatment.”
In 2016, Prince William even spoke about how he and Kate are raising their children, and doing so in as normal a way as possible.
“As far as we are concerned within our family unit, we are a normal family,” William told the BBC. “I love my children in the same way any father does and I hope George loves me the same way any son does his father. We are very normal in that sense.”
