Photo comparison sparks debate online about Ghislaine Maxwell’s appearance

Ghislaine Maxwell, the partner of late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, has virtually appeared before the House Oversight Committee in recent weeks. A new picture of her is now leaving people online in disbelief.

In recent weeks, Ghislaine Maxwell has appeared virtually before the U.S. House Oversight Committee — and repeatedly invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination, refusing to answer questions about Epstein’s network.

Her lawyer has publicly suggested that she would be willing to testify fully only if she received clemency or a pardon, a gambit that legal experts and victims’ advocates have called manipulative and self-serving.

Meanwhile, newly released federal documents have kept Epstein-related headlines in the news, including disclosures of email exchanges between Maxwell and prominent figures — revelations that have even led some high-profile individuals and artists to sever professional ties with agencies connected to the case.

In the latest twist in the long-running saga surrounding Ghislaine Maxwell, a new online theory has taken social media by storm — and it’s dividing opinion far beyond the usual corners of the internet.

Internet goes into meltdown over “fake” Ghislaine Maxwell

A blurry image and video footage from a recent deposition have been shared thousands of times after users began comparing them with earlier public photos of Maxwell. Many commenters are convinced that the woman seen in the prison material doesn’t look like the real Ghislaine Maxwell.

Social media went into a meltdown as a picture of Ghislaine from a hearing took off oline.

Not only Jeffrey Epstein is not dead, but Ghislaine Maxwell is not in prison. The woman picture left is clearly not Ghislaine Maxwell, right,” one person wrote. “Not her nose, not her eyes… not her jawline… = not her.”

Others went further, asking, “Why would you go through the trouble and risk putting out a fake Ghislaine? Wouldn’t it be easier just to get rid of her?”

But for every conspiracy thread, there are those urging calm and perspective.

One user pointed out the basics of ageing and the daily reality of prison life, saying, “Ever heard of aging and no longer having access to beauty treatments like Botox, fillers, and facials?”

Reasons behind

Another reminded others that different lighting and a bit of weight gain can dramatically alter a face.

So what is the real story here? But legal experts and journalists agree — there is no credible evidence that Maxwell has been replaced in custody by a “lookalike,” and most similarities in her appearance can be explained by natural ageing, differences in lighting and the absence of cosmetic services she previously enjoyed.

As one commenter wrote: “It’s just different lighting conditions.”
