Influencer Melissa Mae Carlton is mourning the unimaginable loss of her youngest daughter, Molly, who passed away a year after the death of her daughter Abi.

In a tragic Instagram post on Friday, Carlton revealed that Molly had died on Christmas Day.

“On Christmas morning, our sweet Molly girl, and her big sister Abi were reunited. ,” she wrote.

“We are devastated. In disbelief. Confused and in shock. We are exhausted and shaken after a day filled with trauma and heartbreak.”

She added: “This is the only thing giving me even a small sense of comfort. Molly missed her sister so deeply. She would often ask me, ‘Mummy, when is Jesus coming back so Abi can come down?’”

Hours after making the post, Melissa, who shares two other children with husband Tom, offered more information as to the cause of Molly’s death.

“I hesitate to share a medical update already because we still don’t have an official diagnosis. But I do feel it’s important to let people know that we have some answers this time,” she wrote on Instagram. “The doctors believe Molly had a genetic heart condition and suspect this may have been the case with Abi as well.”

As per Page Six, after Molly fell ill at home first responders arrived quickly to take her to the hospital, 15 minutes away.

Melissa shared that a minor illness might have triggered Molly’s “cardiac event,” adding: “Her little body fought so hard. But we’ve been told that this type of cardiac event is, in most cases, not survivable.”

Molly’s little sister Abi died in April 2024 at the age of nine after battling sepsis.

“There are no words to express how heartbroken and devastated we are,” Melissa at the time. “I wasn’t sure when or how much I would share this on here, but I feel moved to this morning.”

The grieving mom revealed she “never felt satisfied” with the answers she got when Abi passed, but with Molly monitored in the hospital before she died, the family were afforded more information.
