Cuban President shares daring 2-word reply to Trump amid latest threat of ‘taking Cuba’

Donald Trump has once again commented on the possibility that the U.S could get involved in Cuba after the war in Iran. Now, the Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel has answered with a bold reply,

Since taking office for a second time, Donald Trump has been on the offensive. Maduro was captured in Venezuela. He threatened to take Greenland by force, and now, the war in Iran. Meanwhile, not long ago, Trump made threats against Cuba, saying he doesn’t rule out an operation on Cuba as well.

“We’ll be doing something with Cuba very soon,” the U.S president said in mid-March. Just a day earlier, he had made another threat, suggesting that the U.S. could take control of the country.

“Whether I free it, take it, I think I could do anything I want with it,” Trump told reporters.

The communist-led country has been under heavy pressure from the United States for months, while also struggling with serious energy shortages that have left many citizens facing daily blackouts.

Cuban President responds to Trump’s latest threat

In a message shared on X in March shortly after Donald Trump’s comments mid-March, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel stated that Cuba would fight back against any attempt to remove its government or seize control of the country.

“In the face of the worst scenario, Cuba is accompanied by a certainty: any external aggressor will clash with an impregnable resistance,” he wrote.

Now, Donald Trump once again has set his focus on Cuba. As late as Monday, the U.S president once again mentioned Cuba, saying that the U.S “may stop by” the island after the Iran war is finished.

“Cuba is a failing nation, and we’re going to do this, and we may stop by Cuba after we’re finished with this,” Trump told reporters at the White House, referring to the U.S military engagements against Iran. “Cuba is a nation that was … horribly run for many years.”

Trump continued, “We have a lot of great Cuban Americans, all of whom just about voted for me, and they were treated very badly. In many cases, family members have been killed. They’ve been beaten up and mugged and terrible things happened in Cuba.”

“If we need to die, we’ll die”

Again, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel had to respond. On Sunday, he stated that there was “no justification” for the US to launch an attack on his country. Diaz-Canel further said that any such move would be met with resistance.

While appearing on NBC News’ Meet the Press, Diaz-Canel said, through a translator, “If [an attack] happens, there’ll be fighting and there’ll be a struggle and we’ll defend ourselves, and if we need to die, we’ll die. As our national anthem says, ‘dying for the homeland is to live.’ ”

He added, “I have no fear. I am willing to give my life for the revolution.”

As mentioned, Cuba has struggled with severe energy shortages, leaving many citizens facing daily blackouts. Meanwhile, tensions between the U.S and Cuba, with the Trump administration putting sanctions on Cuba, have grown.

Diaz-Canel has criticized the sanctions as”genocidal and cruel,” and argued that the U.S has made the island country’s economy worse.
