Fans slam eye-watering prices of food and drink at Super Bowl – options branded ‘trash’

Say one thing for the Super Bowl, say it costs a pretty penny indeed if you want to attend live.

All football fans dream of seeing their team compete for the Vince Lombardi trophy, but it’s fair to state that not every football fan likely has the money to make that dream a reality, even if their team makes it to the NFL season’s biggest day.

Tickets for this year’s Super Bowl – contested between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks – are said to have gone for between $4000 and $6000 (some for much, much higher), and the news coming out of the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California is that fans there have been met with some steep prices as it concerns food and drink.

It’s being reported that one of the items on the food menu is priced at an eye-watering $180, without a drink.

That’s right, the so-called LX Hammer Burger, a cheeseburger with braised bone-in beef shank, roasted mirepoix demi-glace, and Point Reyes bleu cheese fondue on baked brioche bun, costs just shy of $200. Coincidentally, there are only 200 of them being made

Elsewhere, there have been complaints online relating to the steep drink prices for today’s game. It’s reportedly costing those lucky enough to be inside the stadium $17.50 for a can of lager or a Bud Light Seltzer, while it’s 19 bucks if they want to drink premium canned beer.

Canned wine is $16 a pop, and it’s $8 for water.

A single mixed cocktail sets one back $19, a double $32. The Halftime Show Magarita costs $23 for a single and $36 for a double.

“Absolutely criminal,” one X user wrote“The majority of football fans can’t afford this.”

8 DOLLARS FOR WATER!?” wrote another“F**k that id rather drink the water from the toilet.”

If I were a billionaire I wouldn’t pay those prices,” claimed a third.

“Haven’t seen anything better than a hot dog. Food options here are trash,” said another fan, as per reports.

Meanwhile, a simple stadium hot dog is setting the crowd back $20. $35 gets them the Gilroy Garlic Steak Frites, a California hanger steak served with a ruch au poivre saude, crisped Gilroy garlic, and pink peppercorns.
